Belimo Americas headquarters in Danbury, Connecticut, is commissioning an 877kW DC solar power generating system. The installation is one of the largest solar power installations in Connecticut and will meet 25% of the building’s electricity demand. Belimo along with Dynamic Energy will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 11 at 11:00 AM on the rooftop of 33 Turner Road in Danbury, Connecticut.
Investing in this solar power generating system underscores Belimo's commitment to technologies used to protect our environment. The project is another step in Belimo's mission to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions from commercial buildings worldwide.

Belimo directly contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by incorporating the UN Global Compact principles into strategies, policies, and procedures. Belimo not only upholds its primary responsibilities to people and the planet but also sets the stage for long-term success in the HVAC industry. To reduce CO2 emissions and increase renewable energy use, Belimo has installed the solar system to promote environmental protection and offset grid-supplied electricity. The system is comprised of 2192 high-output solar modules and is expected to produce approximately 1.1 megawatt hours of electricity annually. By offsetting a portion of Belimo’s energy needs with solar, 857 tons of greenhouse gas emissions will be avoided, equivalent to powering roughly 100 homes in Connecticut annually.
"Belimo is extremely pleased to be commissioning this solar power generating system at our Americas Headquarters in Danbury. This system will enable the energy consumption and carbon footprint of our Danbury facility to be reduced by a third. It represents the largest solar generating system installed at any of Belimo’s facilities worldwide. This project with Dynamic Energy has been 18 months in the making, and moves Belimo further in the direction toward our Sustainability Initiative in support of our Corporate Social Responsibility," said James Furlong, President Belimo Americas.
Belimo's North American headquarters is committed to environmental responsibility and sustainability and thrives on design and innovation. The facility is LEED Gold Certification and achieved 19 out of 19 points in the energy performance optimization model, projecting 48 percent in energy savings. With the solar panel installation, Belimo can qualify for up to 8 LEED points under the Energy & Atmosphere section (EA2) and continues to contribute to reducing energy consumption and environmental impacts.
“It has been an honor to work alongside Belimo on this exciting rooftop solar project,” said Tim Carr, Vice President of Business Development at Dynamic Energy. “Belimo’s focus on safety, quality, and collaboration were key success factors that enabled us to deliver a world-class solar asset for their organization. We applaud Belimo’s industry leadership, particularly during a time when job creation through renewable energy development is of the utmost importance to the local, national, and global economies.”
