Announcing 4th Generation 6-way EPIV Assemblies

Belimo has once again pushed the boundaries of HVAC technology with the introduction of our 4th Generation 6-way Electronic Pressure Independent Valve (EPIV) assemblies. These valves are specifically designed for applications such as chilled beams, radiant ceiling panels, and 4-pipe fan coil units. This generation introduces key enhancements that expand system design options and address moisture-related challenges in cooling applications.

The new 4th Generation 6-way EPIV series adds an all-new 1” valve size, enhancing system design flexibility by accommodating higher flow rates. Another significant advancement in the series is the optional condensation management system. This feature is crucial in applications where uncontrolled condensation could lead to water damage, corrosion, mold growth, efficiency losses, and safety hazards.

The condensation management system is designed to be highly responsive and adaptable. A sensor monitors the cooling water inlet pipe for signs of condensation. When condensation is detected, the device enters a warning state which starts a configurable timer. This allows the Building Management System (BMS) time to respond and address the issue. If the timer expires and the issue persists, the system escalates the warning to an alarm. This approach ensures that the system takes measures to prevent condensation-related problems while providing the proper alerts to staff if manual intervention is needed.

In addition to these new features, the 4th Generation EPIV valves continue to offer all of the advanced features that customers have come to expect from previous generations. The integration of a temperature sensor into the flow body allows for accurate fluid temperature measurement and glycol monitoring. The ultrasonic flow sensor and glycol compensation allow for precise flow measurement and dynamic balancing.

The EPIV supports multiple communication protocols, including analog, Modbus RTU, BACnet MS/TP, and Belimo MP-Bus, ensuring seamless integration into the BMS. The Belimo Assistant 2 App provides an intuitive interface for device configuration and commissioning, simplifying the setup process.

The 4th Generation Belimo 6-way EPIV valves represent a significant step forward in HVAC technology. With their expanded size range, advanced condensation management, and flow measurement capabilities, these valves offer unparalleled performance and reliability for a wide range of applications. By integrating these valves into your HVAC system, you can achieve greater efficiency, improved control, and enhanced protection against condensation-related issues.
